In our opinion, if you are NEW to the game, and you need a website that will work for your personal purposes and/or business - and LOOK GOOD -  there are a number of excellent ways to build a website that can achieve what you need it too, quickly easily and cheaply.

- You can start from literally a few dollars ($8.88) - for a domain name - and a meagre monthly expenditure ($6.95) to host your own site (…actually 1 or as many sites as you like for that SAME total price!). We recommend NameCheap for domains because their prices are LOW and their system is fast, easy to use and doesn’t pester you with pages of unwanted upgrades and offers like irritating websites such as the one who like to think its is the ‘Daddy’ of domain sellers does!! We also recommend that you check out hosts like HostMonster ($6.95 a month for hosting unlimited domains) or ThinkHost for another decent economy hosting option.

- You can use one of the emerging content management systems that is well optimised to attract search engines…and hence visitors. Foremost amongst the simple ‘blog based’ sites is WordPress (of course) the system this blog uses like so many others. But we also highly recommend TeraPad (and yes we also have many websites and blogs using this great tool and platform) - because you can either have a website and/or a blog, and a shop, and a gallery, and many more options all rolled into one with some great looking templates and an slick, easy to use website builing interface…and you can get it all for free until you decide (if ever) to upgrade and have an ad-free, own domain option. SHOCK HORROR: Using pop ups effectively! Surely pop ups died a death after they saturated the web afew years back and managed to piss everyone and their uncle off?
