This weblog was originally (and rather belatedly) born around the time that this years Thirty Day Challenge (TDC) ‘kicked-off’ at the beginning of August.

Now, many of you may have heard about the 30 Day Challenge, but for the purposes of this blog I’ll pretend you haven’t! Indeed I can’t even remember how I stumbled upon it myself except to say that I recall coming across a youtube video (or such like) featuring a rather unprepossessing chubby guy in an ‘anorak’ and a silly woolen hat standing outside on a cold day. He turned out to have the typical twang of an antipodean accent and he proceeded after some introductory blather to introduce another slightly-sheepish, rather albinoid looking character and the third element of the triumvirate was a huge, somewhat over-excited American.

This strange group were based (for the purposes of the video, and for reasons too complicated to bother to explain here) near the ski slopes somewhere in Whistler, British Columbia in Canada (I think) and to be honest, looked like a ‘right bunch’ as we say here in the UK. That is to say that if you were looking for potential mentors to help you make a break into the wonderful world of online commercial enterprise then these guys looked like the grown-up version of the ‘playground geeks’ who may well have just been ‘having a laugh’ with a new video camera! So not exactly inspiring perhaps…But something seemed to click enough to make me follow through and join the preparatory period prior to the launch of the TDC.

We went along for the ride through the 30 (+1) days of August and as many of the 1000’s of Challengers who also joined the fray found, the trip was well worthwhile. Indeed the site and the many tutorials (pdfs, articles, links and videos, etc) are still there for anyone else at any time to follow through and create their own thirty day challenge whenever they want! (to whit: TDC )

If all this stuff about the 30 day Challenge is new to you then you may not know that the guys in the video turned out to be the affable Australian Ed Dale – he of the anorak and bobble hat (it may not have had a bobble but it sounds better ;-D) – who happens to be an eminently successful website entrepreneur, having made several $$millions more than once out of website based projects he has pursued to date. The British ‘contingent’ was Dan Raine, a white-haired Mancunian (meaning from Manchester, UK, for the uninitiated) with a good face for radio (as they used to say!) – and evidently a good brain for how to make big bucks out of online businesses, according to his admirable track-record. The American? — Well we never really got to know him — Nic Messe, apparently never quite made it to this years ‘Challenge’ – having formerly been a Thirty Day Challenge ’success story’, himself, from the first time it was run in 2005, his own highly successful website business took a ‘major bath’ during August 2007 and he subsequently disappeared off the radar (at least for the time being! — Such are the vagaries of online fortune)…

Anyway…as usual my own ‘bletherings’ are wont to dribble on…but my main aim in posting this was just to say that:

(1) If you have any thoughts at all about getting into the mysterious, frustrating, complex, aggravating, absorbing and addictive world of online business…or if you currently dabble with websites and web business but aren’t getting the results you hoped for… then the TDC website is well worth checking out…HOWEVER

(2) If you are really serious about getting started effectively in online business, then you’d do even better to check out one of the main ‘vehicles’ that the TDC ’subtly’ pushes (that is to say the TDC is TOTALLY free, and only deals with using free tools and methods for ‘getting off the ground’ if you want to dabble with websites, blogs, affiliate sales and product development)…BUT if you truly mean to do business, then you are probably a bit more serious minded and you should check out Dan and Ed’s in-depth mentoring project at The Immediate Edge. This is a rare opportunity to see two successful online businessmen at work, real time, following along as projects are formulated, implemented, developed. modified and so on. This provides real current business strategies and, in effect, ‘templates’ for anyone to ‘emulate’ and achieve some success via the ‘fast route’ having, well, an ‘immediate edge’ over the competition.

This opportunity is like ‘joining an apprenticeship program’, or a ‘live college’, where not only are all the ‘moves’ explicitly demonstrated and discussed, but the actual money spent and earned is revealed too — PLUS there are opportunities to get actively involved (and rewarded!). Now this doesn’t come for free (naturally) but the relative cost is small for the amount of information, insight and interface with the mentors that you get, to help anyone who really want to achieve something on the ‘Net! BUT more than this this ‘group of like-minded individuals’ also gets to use some useful tools and promotional resources for their own projects all included in the deal, and pretty amazing in themselves.
